ONE unfortunate lottery player is feeling the pangs of misfortune after missing the massive jackpot.
Despite not bringing home the grand prize, the North Carolina resident was the recipient of a $50,000 secondary prize.

The lucky Powerball numbers were 6-19-35-47-57, with red Powerball 9, reports The Charlotte Observer.
According to the outlet, the winning lottery ticket was sold at Stanley’s Citgo, a gas station in the town of Asheville, which is located 99 miles outside of Charlotte, a lottery spokesperson said.
The player's ticket reportedly matched four of the white balls as well as the red ball in order to score the big win.
According to the Powerball and North Carolina lottery websites, the player was one number off from scooping up the $185 million jackpot.

Three other winners have taken $150,000.
North Carolina law stipulates that any lottery winners must claim their prizes within six months of the drawings.
It was also reported that as of now, no one has come forward to claim the pot.
Those who want to get a chunk of the prize money have a 1 in 292,201,338 of winning, per the outlet.

OneNew Year's Day, it was announced that two lucky people from two separate conveniencestores in Minnesota would be taking home the grand prize.
The winners of theMinnesotaMillionaire Raffle got their tickets from Coborn's Marketplace in Delano, and the other was at the Kwik Trip in Dundas, CBS affiliate WCCO reported.
According to Lottery officials, the winner from Dundas ( located 33 miles outside ofMinneapolis) had claimed their prize.

With no one having claimed the second prize, residents of Delano, located 26 miles outside of Minneapolis, have begun buzzing with speculation.
"Talking to a lawyer, being smart, or already have plans for moving away," one resident told the outlet.
"My guess is they just don't know they won," a second resident said.
Despite the desire to know who the lucky winner is, there is a slight possibility that they will remain anonymous.
In 2021, the statepassed a lawthat allows big lottery winners, anything over $10,000, to keep their names confidential.

Lawmakers argued that the bill was needed to protect the privacy ofPowerball,Megamillions, and other lotto winners who may become targets for criminals.
In addition to the two grand prize winners, five lucky winners also won $100,000.
