The David Geffen School of Medicine allows re-applicants.
As a re-applicant, you can reapply to the David Geffen School of Medicine twice and still be considered for admission. If you have completed a secondary application in the past, you would be considered a re-applicant.
We do recommend that you reapply at a time when you have significant change to your application to ensure full consideration.
We consider applicants from all candidates regardless of their state of origin or their country of origin. We welcome the best candidates from everywhere.
We do not have a minimum MCAT requirement. We do not have a minimum GPA requirement. We do not have a set course or group of classes that you need to take.However, we do have a set of competency levels. As long as you meet those competency levels, you can feel confidentyou meet the medical school requirementsand apply.
No. In-state students do not have an advantage.
At the David Geffen School of Medicine, half of the applicants admitted each year are from out of state. The other half are in-state (reflective of a heavy number of CA applicants), and we also have a percentage of international students who join our program each year.
We welcome the best candidates from everywhere.
Our holistic review does not consider the state of residence during the application process.
All medical school applicants are welcome and there are no specific medical school requirements for out-of-state candidates.
If you are residing in another state, or, if you are from California but living elsewhere, you can still apply to the David Geffen School of Medicine and receive equal consideration.
In fact, our merit scholarships are also issued without regard to the state of residence.
All medical school applicants can be considered for merit scholarships.
Yes, absolutely. The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA does look at candidates that have DACA status.
In fact, we want you to apply to medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA as we aim to promote diversity on campus.
The David Geffen School of Medicine does not place a higher value on in-state candidates versus out-of-state candidates versus international candidates. There are no separate pools or evaluation processes.
We evaluate all of our candidates holistically. All VSLO in-state, out-of-state, and international applicants have an equal opportunity to be a competitive candidate.
Our holistic review process doesn't prioritize students applying directly from a UCLA undergraduate program. You could be a community college transfer student, a private university graduate, a public university graduate, etc.
What we we look for during the holistic review process are things like academic competency, community service, leadership qualities, clinical experience, etc.
We do not have spots allocated for applicants coming specifically from UCLA and these students are not given preference during the review process.
There's no cutoff for GPA at the David Geffen School of Medicine, but you should try to do as well as you can in your classes.
If you're out of school and you're in the middle of apostbaccalaureate program, continue to do well because those grades will also be looked at.
If you're in school and you didn't start out well in your freshman year, but now you're a junior and your grades have gotten better, the admissions committee does pay attention to upwards trends.
In fact, holistic admissions process takes into account all the elements of your application. We do not put focus on any one factor. We do not have a minimum MCAT score or a minimum GPA in our medical school requirements.

We list competency areas and as long as you feel that you meet those competency areas, we invite you to apply to medical school
